On March 13, 2000, representatives from the United States Mint unveiled the new Maryland state quarter in the Governor's Conference Room in the Maryland State House. Featuring the dome of this famous Maryland landmark, Maryland was the seventh state to be celebrated as a part of the 50 State Quarters® Program.

Although the nickname "The Old Line State" that appears on the Maryland quarter refers to the troops from Maryland that fought in the American Revolution, Maryland's military history is featured on another coin as well. Read all about The Battle of Antietam Commemorative Half Dollar, which features the Burnside Bridge in Sharpsburg, MD, and was produced to mark the 75th anniversary of this historic Civil War battle. |
