The United States Mint released the Utah quarter on November 5, 2007.  Utah is the forty-fifth state to be honored as a part of the 50 State Quarters® Program.

On May 10, 1869, the Central Pacific and the Union Pacific railroad lines met Promontory, Utah.  Utah's quarter shows two trains meeting at the golden spike before Utah mountains.  The moment captured on Uta's quarter truly changed the state and the nation forever!

The Utah quarter features two trains meeting at the golden spike and the motto "Crossroads of the West."  Learn more about other coins featuring marvels of engineering and the linking of east and west.

	2005 West Virginia Quarter:  The West Virginia quarter features the engineering wonder known as the New River Gorge Bridge.
	1915 Panama-Pacific Octagonal 50-Dollar Coin:  Learn more about the completion of the Panama Canal and how this engineering marvel connected the East and West.

Our Foreign Friends

The coins produced for the 50 State Quarters Program share much in common with the European currency, the euro.  With your students, visit the interactive cartoon, Coins of the World, to see how these two programs are similar (here's a hint: look at the backs of euros from different countries, and then look at their fronts).

Quarter Games

	Your students can test their knowledge of United States geography and the 50 State Quarters Program, all while helping Bill the Mint Buffalo earn enough money to plan a cross-country trip.
	Here's a challenge for your students!  Put all the pieces of the Utah quarter back together—in three minutes or less!
