Jim Licaretz
Medallic Sculptor

Jim Licaretz is a graduate of the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in Philadelphia. He received a J. Henry Schiedt Traveling Scholarship, as well as the Edmund Stewardson Prize for Figurative Sculpture and a Philadelphia Board of Education four-year scholarship.
Licaretz returned to the United States Mint as a medallic sculptor in 2006, a position he first held in the 1980s. He was also a sculptor at Franklin Porcelain and the Franklin Mint in Pennsylvania, a master sculptor at Mattel, Inc. in California, and manager of the Sculpting Department at Artistic Solutions and Production in California. In addition, he served as a faculty member at the Fleisher Art Memorial in Philadelphia, Otis School of Art and Design in Los Angeles, and the Academy of Art College in San Francisco.
Licaretz's works are represented in numerous private collections and can be seen at the British Museum, The Royal Coin Cabinet, The National Museum of Economy, Stockholm, Sweden, the American Numismatic Society, and the Smithsonian Institution. He has exhibited his sculpture extensively throughout the U.S.
Licaretz is a former president of the American Medallic Sculpture Association and a member Fellow of the National Sculpture Society and sculptor member of the Federation International de le Medaille.
Among Licaretz's many professional awards and honors are the 2008 American Numismatic Association's Numismatic Art Award for Excellence in Medallic Sculpture; the 1987 Best in Show "Sculpture 1987" at the Johnson Atelier National Competition in Mercerville, N.J.; the 1986 American Artist Professional League Gold Medal 58th Grand National Exhibition; the 1986 Gold Medal of Honor for Sculpture at the 36th Annual Open Exhibition, Knickerbocker Artists; and the 1976 Introspect Sculpture Award, Franklin Mint, Medal of Honor for Sculpture.
