Obverse Description:
This coin features an image of President Franklin Roosevelt. The death of President Roosevelt on April 12, 1945, brought many requests to the Treasury Department to honor this president by placing his portrait on a coin. On January 30, 1946, the birthday of the late president, this coin bearing John R. Sinnock's design of Franklin D. Roosevelt was released to the public and it replaced the Mercury Dime. The inscriptions on this coin says: Liberty, In God We Trust and the year. Two United States Mint Directors, Robert J. Grant and Nellie Tayloe Ross, served during President Roosevelt's tenure in office
