Reverse Description:
Released on October 14, 2005, this is the 35th coin released in the 50 State® Quarter Program and the fifthr released in 2005. West Virginia, admitted into the Union on June 20, 1863, featured the scenic beauty of the New River and the New River Gorge Bridge. The coin is inscribed: West Virginia; 1863; New River Gorge; 2005; and E Pluribus Unum. President William J. Clinton was in office when this legislation was signed. Three United States Mint Directors served under President Clinton's tenure; David J. Ryder of Idaho, Philip N. Diehl of Texas, and Jay W. Johnson of Wisconsin.
