Building and Rebuilding

The United States officially accepts the gold standard—backing all its money by gold.
The Denver Assay Office (where gold is tested and weighed) becomes a mint (where coins are made).
The San Francisco Mint building serves as the city's banking center because most of the city is destroyed by a great earthquake and fire.

Also, the Denver Mint moves into its new building.
