North Dakota Quarter

Overview

Do you know that we have a collection of lesson plans based on the North Dakota quarter?

Activity

The 50 State Quarters® Program lesson plans are now available on the United States Mint H.I.P. Pocket Change Web site for use in your classroom!  Take a look at the lesson plans created specifically to celebrate the North Dakota quarter:  Give Me a "B"! (K and 1), Protect for Safekeeping (2 and 3), and Neither Wind Nor Rain (4 through 6).  After that, check out the rest of these state-specific plans that are FREE to download, and are available in sets designed specifically for the same grades.  You will also find materials for older students that incorporate themes in U.S. history, government, and world history.  Visit the Teachers section to download lesson plans for grades 7 and 8 or 9 through 12.

Make a "Connection"

Find out more about other coins featuring the bison.  Don't miss the March 2005 Coin of the Month, the American Bison Nickel.  This coin features the American bison, also called a buffalo.  This animal used to roam the plains in such great numbers that the animal was noted often by Lewis and Clark in their journals.  The American Bison Nickel is part of the Westward Journey Nickel Series, a series that also includes lesson plans for grades K through 12. Be sure to take a look at the Kansas Quarter and the K through 6 lesson plans created specifically to celebrate it:  Flower Power (K and 1), Kansas Clues (2 and 3), and Can You See the Light? (4 through 6).
