Montana Quarter Lesson Plans
Overview
Do you know that we have a collection of lesson plans based on the Montana quarter?
Activity
The 50 State Quarters® Program lesson plans are now available on the United States Mint H.I.P. Pocket Change™ Web site for use in your classroom! Take a look at the lesson plans created specifically to celebrate the Montana quarter: Big Blue Sky (K and 1), Can You Adapt? (2 and 3), and Food Web (4 through 6).
After that, check out the rest of these state-specific plans, FREE to download, in sets designed specifically for grades K and 1, 2 and 3, and 4 through 6. You will also find materials for older students that incorporate themes in U.S. history, government, and world history. Visit the Teachers section to download lesson plans for grades 7 and 8 or 9 through 12.

The Montana quarter features a bison skull, sacred to many of Montana's American Indian tribes. Find out more about another skull found on the obverse of a coin: In the August 2001 Coin of the Month, explore the story behind the Old Spanish Trail commemorative half dollar (1935) and why a steer's skull represents this historic path.
