Mammals of Glacier National Park
Students will research the mammals of Glacier National Park and share a day in the life of one animal.
Read the April Coin of the Month article to learn about the mountain goat, featured on the obverse of the Glacier National Park Quarter. Assign the students to work individually or in pairs on one of the 62 species of mammals found in Glacier National Park. Have them research key facts about the mammal then describe a typical day in the mammal’s life, as demonstrated in the article, but without identifying the animal. Have students read their typical day out loud and see if other students can guess which animal they researched.
