Chaco Culture

Picture Perfect Petroglyphs

Grades K-1
Language Arts, Social Studies

Starting with the Chaco Culture National Historical Park quarter, the students will research the park, focusing on the Chaco culture.  They will view artifacts such as Kivas and petroglyphs and discuss their importance to the Chaco culture.  After reading a text about petroglyphs, the students will create a petroglyph using the “Picture Perfect Petroglyphs” worksheet to describe an important event in their own lives.
