The United States Mint released the Idaho quarter on June 4, 2007. Idaho is the forty-third state to be honored as a part of the 50 State Quarters® Program. Idah's quarter pictures a peregrine falcon next to the outline of the state. The peregrine falcon was the first animal protected under the Endangered Species Act in 1969. Today, its numbers have grown to the point where it has been taken off of the "endangered" list. The quarter also bears the stat's motto, "Esto Perpetua", meaning "May it be forever", as well as the inscriptions "Idaho" and "1890". Teachers, below you will find several activities and links that will bring the features of this coin and the excitement of the Idaho "State Quarter Day" into your classroom!
