During the past month, new information and activities have been added to the United States Mint H.I.P. Pocket Change™ Web site. To help you learn "What's New for You," we've listed and linked these features below.
Veterans Day—November is the month we celebrate our nation's veterans. Be sure to visit our Veterans Day page which features great information on coins and medals relating to veterans, including the 2005 Marine Corps 230th Anniversary Silver Dollar. The page is linked to several Veterans Day teaching resources, including the Web Quest, two lesson plans, and some Teacher Features.
November Coin of the Month—This month the United States Mint celebrates the release of the South Dakota quarter and Inspector Collector is raring to introduce you to this state through its quarter. This new quarter features an image of the state bird, wheat heads and Mount Rushmore National Monument. Another resource for your classroom is the associated Teacher Feature, which highlights the South Dakota quarter lesson plans.
Teacher Features—While you can always find great classroom ideas in the Teachers section of H.I.P. Pocket Change, be sure to click on the Teacher Feature icon whenever you spot it on the site to find ideas that relate directly to whatever you've just read!
