September 2007

During the past month, new information and activities have been added to the United States Mint H.I.P. Pocket Change™ Web site.  To help you learn "What's New for You," we've listed and linked these features below.

September Coin of the Month:  Join Bill as he heads out west to celebrate the new Wyoming quarter.  Wyoming was the 44th state to join the Union and is now the 44th quarter to be released as part of the 50 State Quarters® Program.  This quarter features a bucking horse and its rider, as well as the state motto of Wyoming, "The Equality State".

State Quarter Day in the Classroom:  Celebrate the Wyoming quarter with State Quarter Day in the Classroom.  Read more about "The Equality State" and find out what's great about the 44th state.

50 State Quarters® Program Lesson Plans:  Take a look at these lessons, created specifically to celebrate the Wyoming quarter:  "W" Is for Wyoming (K and 1), A Cowboy's Life (2 and 3), and Voting for Change (4–6).  After that, be sure to check out the rest of the state-specific plans, FREE to download in sets designed specifically for grades K and 1, 2 and 3, and 4 through 6.

Time Machine:  At this moment, Flip the Mint Seal is setting the dials on the time machine for an adventure.  He'll take you to the year 1943, a time during World War II.  You'll find out more about World War II, Victory Gardens, and changes to daily life with our Teacher Feature.
