June 2009

June Coin of the Month:  Join Bill and learn more about the 2009 Native American $1 Coin Program.  The 2009 Native American $1 Coin features the "Three Sisters of Agriculture" which are actually corn, beans, and squash.  Find out how Native American agriculture helped to grow our nation!

Native American $1 Coin Program lesson plans:  Download free lesson plans and access resource materials related to the new 2009 Native American $1 Coin.  The Native American $1 Coin Program brings the history of American Indians to life.  Slated to last at least as long as the 10-year Presidential $1 Coin Program, this program features a series of designs, released a year apart.  The designs will depict Native American people and events that helped to shape the United States.  The order of the designs will be as close as possible to the order in which the events happened.

Summer Fun with Coins:   During the summer months, there are lots of ways to have fun with coins.  Here you will find some great activities including arts and crafts, tricks and games, and even ways to earn money.  There are suggestions on collecting coins, designing note cards, creating clay coins, making a piggy bank, and yummy "cents-sational" cookies!

Celebrate Father's Day:  Invite your students to visit our Games page and make a special card for Dad using Plinky's Create-a-Card (printer required).
