Over the past month, several changes have been made to the United States Mint H.I.P. Pocket ChangeT Web site, specifically with teachers in mind!  To help you learn about "What's New For You", explore some of the links that have been listed below.

Coin News

March Coin of the Month—Join Bill The Mint Buffalo as he proudly presents the newest nickel in the Westward Journey Nickel SeriesT, the 2005 American Bison Nickel.  This nickel features the American bison, commonly called a "buffalo."  The obverse design features, for the first time in 67 years, a new likeness of America's third president, Thomas Jefferson.  The "Liberty" inscription on the coin is based upon Jefferson's own handwriting.

Westward Journey Nickel SeriesT Lesson Plans—The American Bison Nickel, the third nickel in the Westward Journey Nickel SeriesT is making its premiere in March.  These new designs commemorate the Louisiana Purchase and the journey of Lewis and Clark.  We are very excited to announce that the lesson plans designed for the new American Bison Nickel are now available for free download!  The Westward Journey Nickel Series Lesson Plans were designed for teachers, by teachers, for grades K–6.  A Resource Guide is also available for download.  Visit the New Nickel Lesson Plans page today!

Newsflash!—We thought you'd like to know the latest!  In December, 2004, The Washington Times "WebWise" column gave the H.I.P. Pocket Change Web site an A+, quoting "H.I.P. Pocket Change is easily one of the best sites that integrates learning with an enormous amount of engaging activities."  The article did a wonderful job of capturing the key features of our site including Camp Coin, Teachers, and Time Machine.
