Be on the lookout for...
There are a lot of exciting things taking place at H.I.P. Pocket Change this month! You're going to want to make sure to return to the site throughout the month to explore these new features:
Presidents' Day page—Visit this seasonal page to learn more about the background of this special holiday and our National leaders. It's a great day to celebrate everything that our past presidents, including Washington and Lincoln, have done for our nation.
Time Machine—Be sure to visit Era 6, the Civil War Era, where you visit Boston in 1863. Fly with Peter the Mint Eagle as he takes a "bird's eye view" of the city and join a family at the general store to learn more about some very strange change. Be sure to check out the associated Teacher Feature, "Secret Expedition," a Social Studies lesson about the Underground Railroad.
Quarter Explorer—Students visit Main Street in Bison City, USA, completing tasks in order to earn Bill the Mint Buffalo enough quarters to go on a trip across the country. Students will use their knowledge of United States geography and the 50 State Quarters Program in order to complete the tasks and earn quarters. The more quarters your students receive, the nicer Bill's trip will be! Bill will send a postcard from each state he visited for students to color and display!
