Visiting the United States Mint in Denver, Colorado

Welcome to the Denver Mint tour reservation system. We offer a free guided tour that takes about 45 minutes. You will learn about the history of the United States Mint and how we produce coins for the American public. After your tour, feel free to visit our Gift Shop to pick up unique memorabilia.

Reservations are required and you must present a confirmation number to enter the tour. Tours can only be reserved up to 90 days in advance. Space is limited and fills up quickly. New tour days become available at 12:00 a.m. ET.

Tour Operating Hours

Days: Monday thru Thursday (excluding federal holidays)
Hours: 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Duration: Approximately 45 minutes*
Tours are recommended for children 7 years of age and older.

*Note: Please be aware that coin production schedules vary and therefore there may be times when coins are not being produced during the time of your tour. Tours may be canceled without prior notice.

Free Education and Outreach Programs Available

The United States Mint offers a free speakers bureau to local schools and groups in the community. The programs can cover a wide range of topics. These programs can be tailored to meet your group's specific interests. To arrange for a speaker please call (303) 405-4761.

Special Needs

If you require special assistance (e.g., sign language interpreters, wheelchair assistance, etc.) please contact us one week or more in advance at (303) 405-4761 so that we can make arrangements to provide you with any specialized services you may need.

Visiting the Denver Mint: Important Tour Information

All visitors must be at the tour entrance located on Cherokee Street 30 minutes prior to the start time. Late arrivals will not be admitted. Please allow yourself additional time for parking at meters or public lots. No curbside dropoffs or pickups are allowed around the Mint facility.

Security Requirements

All visitors are subject to a security screening to include metal detection and X-ray examination of hand-carried items. The United States Mint reserves the right to deny access to anyone at any time. The United States Mint does NOT provide storage for any items.

Permitted items

  • A palm-sized wallet/change purse that will fit in your pocket
  • Cameras/cell phones (must be turned off before entering the building)
  • Medical items necessary for the safety and well-being of the visitor

Prohibited items include, but are not limited to

  • Handbags, purses, fanny packs, tote bags, backpacks and packages
  • Strollers
  • Food, drinks, tobacco products, lighters and matches
  • Weapons, including pocket knives and personal protective devices such as pepper spray

Directions From I-25

From I-25 North

  • Exit at 210A for US-40/US-287/Colfax Avenue
  • Turn Left onto W. Colfax Avenue (I-70-BL E) towards the gold dome of the State Capitol
  • The United States Mint is approximately 1.2 miles on W Colfax Avenue on the right between Delaware and Cherokee Streets

From I-25 South

  • Exit at 210A for US-40/US-287/Colfax Avenue
  • Turn Right onto W. Colfax Avenue (I-70-BL E) towards the gold dome of the State Capitol
  • The United States Mint is approximately 1.2 miles on W Colfax Avenue on the right between Delaware and Cherokee Streets
