United States Mint to Launch White Mountain National Forest Quarter February 21

The United States Mint will join U.S. Forest Service officials and hundreds of local area school-aged children February 21, 2013, to launch the new quarter honoring White Mountain National Forest in New Hampshire.  The ceremony will take place at the Hanaway Theatre at Plymouth State University's Silver Center for the Arts.  Special guests include Governor Maggie Hassan and representatives from the offices of U.S. Senators Kelly Ayotte and Jeanne Shaheen.  Following the ceremony, the public can exchange their currency for $10 rolls of new White Mountain National Forest quarters.

Coin Forum
The evening before the launch ceremony - Wednesday, February 20, from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. - the United States Mint will host a coin forum at the White Mountain National Forest Headquarters, at 71 White Mountain Drive in Campton, NH (03223).  The coin forum will give the public an opportunity to express their views about future coinage, and to learn about upcoming United States Mint coin programs and initiatives. 

The White Mountain National Forest quarter is the 16th coin the America the Beautiful Quarters® Program, a 12-year initiative to honor 56 national parks and other national sites authorized by Public Law Public Law 110-456.  Each year, the public will see five new national sites depicted on the reverse (tails side) of the America the Beautiful Quarters.  The United States Mint is issuing these quarters in the order in which the honored site was first established as a national site.
