2013 United States Mint Presidential $1 Coin Proof Set Sales Open February 14

WASHINGTON - Collectors may begin ordering the 2013 United States Mint Presidential $1 Coin Proof Set (Product Code PE3) on February 14, 2013, at noon Eastern Time (ET).  The set contains four proof quality Presidential $1 Coins from the United States Mint at San Francisco.  This year the Presidential $1 Coins honor Presidents William McKinley, Theodore Roosevelt, William Howard Taft, and Woodrow Wilson with their portraits on the obverse (heads side).

Each Presidential $1 Coin has a common reverse (tails side) design featuring a striking rendition of the Statue of Liberty.  The coins have large, dramatic artwork, as well as edge-incused inscriptions of the year of minting or issuance, E PLURIBUS UNUM, and the mint mark.  The motto IN GOD WE TRUST appears on the obverse (heads side) of the coin.

This year the coin lens in the United States Mint Presidential $1 Coin Proof Set is packaged in a new outer carton.  Images on the front of the carton include line art of the Presidents, along with a "ghosted" image of the White House.  The images on the back of the carton include the portraits of the Presidents with a corresponding coin image.

The United States Mint Presidential $1 Coin Proof Set is priced at $18.95.  Orders will be accepted at the bureau's online catalog, http://www.usmint.gov/catalog, and at 1-800-USA-MINT (872-6468).  Hearing- and speech-impaired customers with TTY equipment may order at 1-888-321-MINT (6468).  Customers should add $4.95 to all domestic orders for shipping and handling.

The United States Mint Presidential $1 Coin Proof Set is also available for purchase through the bureau's Online Subscription Program.  Customers who wish to receive automatic shipments of this product option should visit http://www.usmint.gov/catalog for details about enrolling in the subscription program.

The United States Mint was created by Congress in 1792.  It is the Nation's sole manufacturer of legal tender coinage and is responsible for producing circulating coinage for the Nation to conduct its trade and commerce.  The United States Mint also produces numismatic products, including proof, uncirculated and commemorative coins; Congressional Gold Medals; and silver and gold bullion coins.  The United States Mint's numismatic programs are self-sustaining and operate at no cost to the taxpayer.
