United States Mint Announces End of Sales for 2013 Commemorative Coin Programs

WASHINGTON - The United States Mint's two 2013 commemorative coin programs are quickly coming to a close.  The bureau will discontinue sales for the Girl Scouts of the USA Centennial Silver Dollar and 5-Star Generals Commemorative Coin Programs at noon Eastern Time (ET) on December 31, 2013.  Information about each coin program is below.

Girl Scouts of the USA Centennial Silver Dollar
This silver dollar commemorates the 100th anniversary of the organization established on March 12, 1912, by Juliette Gordon Low in Savannah, Ga.  The sales price of each coin includes a $10 surcharge, which is authorized by Public Law 111-86 to be paid to Girl Scouts of the USA.  The organization will make the funds available for Girl Scout program development and delivery.  Available product options and their prices are as follows:

5-Star Generals Commemorative Coin Program
This program recognizes U.S. Army 5-Star Generals Douglas MacArthur, George C. Marshall, Henry "Hap" Arnold, Dwight D. Eisenhower, and Omar N. Bradley - all alumni of or instructors at the Army Command and General Staff College (CGSC) in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.  The release of the coins coincides with the 132nd anniversary of the founding of the CGSC.  Public Law 111-262 authorizes the bureau to collect surcharges from coin sales - $35 for each gold coin, $10 for each silver dollar, and $5 for each clad half-dollar.  The funds are authorized to be paid to the CGSC Foundation to help finance its activities in support of the college.  Available product options and their prices are as follows:
