WASHINGTON - Sales of the 2009 United States Mint Uncirculated Coin Set will begin on October 1, 2009, at noon Eastern Time (ET).  The set includes two folders, each containing 18 coins from the United States Mint at Denver and the United States Mint at Philadelphia.  The coins include six commemorative quarter-dollar coins honoring the District of Columbia and five U.S. territories:  the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam, American Samoa, the United States  Virgin Islands and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands; four Presidential $1 Coins honoring former Presidents William Henry Harrison, John Tyler, James K. Polk and Zachary Taylor; four Lincoln Bicentennial One-Cent Coins recognizing the bicentennial of former President Abraham Lincoln's birth; one Native American $1 Coin; one Jefferson 5-cent coin; one Roosevelt dime; and one Kennedy half-dollar.

The metallic content of the eight Lincoln one-cent coins is 95% copper, 3% zinc and 2% tin, the identical content of the original one-cent coins issued in 1909.

United States Mint uncirculated coins are struck on special presses using greater force than circulating coins, producing a sharp, intricately detailed image.  The satin-finish coins are sealed in a blister and displayed in a folder.

The 2009 United States Mint Uncirculated Coin Set is priced at $27.95, a $5.00 increase over the price of the 2008 set.  The price increase is due to the inclusion of the two additional quarters and the special metallic content - 95 percent copper - of the eight one-cent coins.
