Here we are in 2008, the last scheduled year of the 50 State Quarters® Program! We hope you've enjoyed the unveiling of each state’s coin design over the last nine years.

In case you haven’t seen the designs for the 2008 states (Oklahoma, New Mexico, Arizona, Alaska, and Hawaii), each one has its own page in "The Coins Are Coming," complete with state information and the story and picture of the design. All 50 states are now on display!

For more information about these coins, take a look at the United States Mint H.I.P. Pocket Change™ Web site for kids.

5. The Second Set of Presidential $1 Coins

Though the 50 State Quarters® Program is winding down, the Presidential $1 Coin Program is just getting started! In this second year of the program, four more coin designs will begin circulating.

You can see the designs planned for the 2008 coins and a short bio of each President (James Monroe, John Quincy Adams, Andrew Jackson, and Martin Van Buren) on their pages on the United States Mint's website. Here are some questions those pages can answer:

  • Which of these presidents authorized three new branches of the United States Mint?
  • Which president was the first to be born an American citizen?
  • Which one served in the House of Representatives for many years after being President of the United States?
  • Which president's time in office is known as the "Era of Good Feelings?"
  • In the picture to the right, which president is which?

While there, try your luck at Coin-duku. With various skill levels, you will soon become a pro and will also learn the designs of our Nation's dollar coins.
