A Parrot Recovers
El Yunque Quarter — January Coin of the Month

As Inspector Collector presents this month's Coin of the Month, he shines his spotlight on the parrot on the El Yunque National Forest quarter. Just out this month, this quarter is number 11 in the America the Beautiful Quarters® Program.

The parrot symbolizes Puerto Rican history and national pride. Puerto Rico is its natural habitat, yet it was once in danger of becoming extinct. At one time, the total population dropped below 25 birds.

Follow the story of this unique animal's recovery to date in January's Coin of the Month.
