Image shows a detail section of the Great Basin quarter reverse

The Great Basin National Park quarter's reverse shows a Bristlecone pine tree. This tree is so at home in the Great Basin that Nevada has claimed the Bristlecone, one of the world's longest-living, as its state tree.

Such an ancient tree would have many a story to tell. And Goldie the Mint Fish is happy to outline some of those stories for you. Check out June's Coin of the Month!
