Coin News

September Coin of the Month—It's September and Inspector Collector is eager to show you the newest quarter!  The Kansas quarter features a buffalo and the sunflower, two of the state's most beloved symbols.  Be sure to check out the accompanying Teacher Feature which highlights the K–6 lesson plans for the Kansas quarter.  Your students can learn about the basic needs and life processes of plants, describe the relationship between the buffalo and American Indians, and investigate the concepts of phototropism and heliotropism.

Constitution Day—September 17 is Constitution Day, the day to celebrate and learn more about this historical document.  On September 17, 1787, the Constitutional Congress held its final meeting to sign the Constitution of the United States of America.  After being signed in September of 1787, Congress sent printed copies of the Constitution to the state legislatures for ratification.

This historical anniversary is the perfect time to show your students what the Constitution is all about.  Our newest game, Branches of Power, is a great way for students to learn the duties of the three branches of government.  Be sure to check back after September 9 for additional information and resources about Constitution Day.
