“I’m excited by the challenge to create designs which are both beautiful and celebrative of America’s history.”

Peter Beck creates art in a variety of traditional mediums with a focus on portraiture and naturalistic illustration. He works as an artist at Dowdle Folk Art, painting in acrylics as well as Photoshop.

Peter has been creating art for as long as he can remember, and he knew from an early age that he wanted to be a professional artist. Painting and drawing have been an outlet for communicating his sense of wonder and observations of the world. His interest in working as an illustrator was sparked by book covers and fantasy illustrations because of their ability to bring fictional subject matter to life.

Peter holds a BFA in Illustration from Brigham Young University (BYU). He studied painting and drawing under renowned artist Robert T. Barrett, Jason Bowen, and fellow AIP artist Justin Kunz. In addition to studying two-dimensional art, Peter studied sculpture with Dennis Smith, Blair Buswell, and Bryon Draper.

His work has been exhibited in the Harris Fine Arts Center at BYU, the Springville Art Museum, Illustration West, and a solo show at the Nancy and Dustin Heuston Center for the Arts. His portraits and illustration work are also included in private collections.
