Starting with the Great Basin National Park quarter, students will learn about the environment where the Bristlecone Pines grow. Students will research and report on courageous characters in American history.
Students will understand and describe how volcanoes are formed and how they function. Students will research basic features of volcanoes, specifically the volcanoes of Hawaii. Students will demonstrate an understanding of volcanoes through creative writing.
Students will demonstrate understanding of the importance of philanthropy, community service, and volunteerism in our culture. Students will examine the contributions of famous Americans to the national park system.
After researching several national sites (parks and or battlefields) and brainstorming adjective and descriptive words, students will produce a descriptive narration for a slide show from one of the selected national sites to demonstrate their learning.
