American Memorial Park Quarter
American Memorial Park in the Northern Mariana Islands honors the American and Marianas people who gave their lives during the Marianas Campaign of World War II.
The Marianas Campaign is known as one of the most decisive battles of the Pacific Theater. On July 9, 1944, U.S. Forces secured Saipan, the largest of the Northern Mariana Islands, to cut off vital Japanese supply and communication lines.
American Memorial Park features a Court of Honor, which displays the American flag in the center of the Flag Circle, surrounded by the Navy, Marine Corps, Army, and Coast Guard flags. The Court of Honor also features 26 granite panels that display the names of the 5,204 service members who died.
