Native American $1 Coin 2024 Rolls, Bags, and Boxes

Native American $1 Coins
Multi (D)(P)
$34.50 - $289.75

Celebrate the 100-year anniversary of the 1924 Indian Citizenship Act with the 2024 Native American $1 Coin. Until 1924, Native Americans born within the United States were still not granted citizenship based on birthright, excluding them from their 14th Amendment rights. This act finally gave Native Americans their citizenship while allowing them to keep their tribal status and properties which previously barred them from qualification.

This intrinsically American coin features the 2024-exclusive reverse design of the Star-Spangled Banner alongside the Eagle Staff, a Native American symbol of respect and honor. The obverse features Sacagawea carrying her infant son, Jean-Baptiste.

The Native American $1 Coin Program was established to honor and recognize the important contributions made by Indian tribes and individual Native Americans.

For 2024, the obverse (heads) design continues to feature a portrait of the central figure of Sacagawea, carrying her infant son, Jean-Baptiste. Inscriptions are “LIBERTY” and “IN GOD WE TRUST.” The coins continue to retain their distinctive edge lettering and golden color.

On June 2, 1924, the Indian Citizenship Act was signed into law, granting U. S. citizenship to “all non-citizen Indians born within the territorial limits of the United States.” The Act notably did not require American Indians to give up their tribal citizenship to become U.S. citizens, allowing individual Indian people to preserve their tribal identity and their right to communal tribal property.

Not only did the Act give American Indians the rights and protections afforded to citizens of the United States, but it also added to the diversity of thought and culture of our nation by unlocking the doors for Indians to become citizens of the United States on their own terms.

The 2024 design shows an eagle staff, an American Indian symbol of respect, honor, and patriotism, together with an American flag to represent the dual citizenship of Native Americans. Inscriptions include “United States of America,” “$1,” and “Indian Citizenship Act of 1924.”
