The 2024 Silver Proof Set features five 99.9% fine silver American Women Quarters™ with proof finishes honoring:
- Reverend Dr. Pauli Murray – was a poet, writer, activist, lawyer, and Episcopal priest To this day, Murray is regarded as one of the most important social justice advocates of the twentieth century
- Honorable Patsy Takemoto Mink –as a Member of Congress, fought for gender and racial equality, affordable childcare, and bilingual education. Mink was the champion of Title IX legislation in Congress, prohibiting sex discrimination in any education program or activity receiving federal financial assistance. Title IX was posthumously renamed the Patsy T. Mink Equal Opportunity in Education Act.
- Dr. Mary Edwards Walker – was a Civil War era surgeon, and women’s rights and dress reform advocate. Walker relentlessly pursued her desire to serve as a surgeon during the Civil War and in 1863 she became the first woman U.S. Army surgeon as a "Contract Acting Assistant Surgeon (civilian)." To date, Walker is the only woman to be awarded the Medal of Honor.
- Celia Cruz – was a Cuban-American singer, cultural icon, and one of the most popular Latin artists of the 20th century. Known as the “Queen of Salsa,” Cruz’s numerous honors and awards include three American and four Latin Grammy awards, the Presidential Medal of Arts, and countless lifetime achievement awards.
- Zitkala-Ša – also known as Gertrude Simmons Bonnin, was a writer, composer, educator, and political activist for Native American rights and citizenship in the early 20th century. Zitkala-Ša was staunchly opposed to the annihilation of indigenous culture through forced assimilation after she was forced to give up her own Native American customs and traditions in exchange for education. Additionally, her advocacy work directly led to the passage of the Indian Citizenship Act of 1924, which granted American Indians US Citizenship while still maintaining their tribal standing and citizenship.
The half dollar and dime are also 99.9% fine silver, and each set is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.

All five 2024 American Women Quarters™ are packaged in one protective lens to showcase and maintain their exceptional proof finish.
The American Women Quarters Program is a four-year series celebrating the accomplishments and contributions made by women who have shaped our Nation’s history and helped pave the way for generations who followed. Begun in 2022, and continuing through 2025, the Mint is issuing five new quarters each year featuring reverse (tails) designs honoring a group of prominent American women.
The reverse (tails) designs of the quarters honor diverse group of American women who made significant contributions in a variety of fields, including: suffrage, civil rights, abolition, government, humanities, science, space, and the arts. The women honored are from ethnically, racially, and geographically diverse backgrounds.
Each coin in this series features a common obverse (heads) design depicting a portrait of George Washington. This design was originally composed and sculpted by Laura Gardin Fraser as a candidate entry for the 1932 quarter, which honored the bicentennial of George Washington’s birth. The inscriptions are “LIBERTY,” “IN GOD WE TRUST,” and “2024.”

Dr. Pauli Murray
Depicts Reverend Dr. Pauli Murray’s eyeglass-framed face within the shape of the word “HOPE,” which is symbolic of Murray’s belief that significant societal reforms were possible when rooted in hope. A line from her poem “Dark Testament,” characterizes hope as “A SONG IN A WEARY THROAT,” an inscription in the design. The additional inscriptions are “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “25₵,” “THE REVEREND DR. PAULI MURRAY,” and “E PLURIBUS UNUM,”
Patsy Takemoto Mink
Features a depiction of Patsy Takemoto Mink holding her landmark “TITLE IX” legislation. In the background, a view of the Capitol Building prominently features the south wing, home to the House of Representatives, where Mink served in Congress. The lei she wears represents her home state of Hawaii. The included inscriptions are “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “PATSY TAKEMOTO MINK,” “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” “25 CENTS,” and “EQUAL OPPORTUNITY IN EDUCATION.”
Dr. Mary Edwards Walker
Features a depiction of Dr. Mary Edwards Walker holding her pocket surgical kit, with the Medal of Honor on her uniform, and surgeon’s pin at her collar. After receiving the award, she continued to wear the Medal of Honor for the rest of her life. The left side of the design showcases the details of the Medal of Honor. The inscriptions are “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” “25 CENTS,” “DR. MARY EDWARDS WALKER,” and “MEDAL OF HONOR 1865.”
Celia Cruz
Features a dynamic depiction of Celia Cruz flashing her dazzling smile while performing in a rumba style dress. Her signature catchphrase “¡AZÚCAR!” is inscribed on the right. Additional inscriptions are “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” “25₵,” and “CELIA CRUZ.”
Zitkala-Ša
Depicts Zitkala-Ša in traditional Yankton Sioux dress. She is holding a book, which represents her work as an author as well as her successful activism for Native American rights. Behind her, a stylized sun represents her work on The Sun Dance opera, while a cardinal symbolizes her name, which translates to “Red Bird.” A Yankton Sioux-inspired diamond pattern sits underneath the sun. The included inscriptions are “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” “AUTHOR,” “ACTIVIST,” “COMPOSER,” “25 CENTS,” and “ZITKALA-ŠA.”
The other lens includes:
One Native American $1 Coin – The obverse retains the central figure of Sacagawea carrying her infant son, Jean-Baptiste. Inscriptions are “LIBERTY” and “IN GOD WE TRUST.” The reverse design features an eagle staff, an American Indian symbol of respect, honor, and patriotism, together with an American flag to represent the dual citizenship of Native Americans. Inscriptions include “United States of America,” “$1,” and “Indian Citizenship Act of 1924.”
