Background

The U.S. Mint released the National Park Service 100th Anniversary $1 Silver Coin in 2016 to commemorate the centennial of the National Park Service. The coin is part of the National Park Service 100th Anniversary Commemorative Coin Program. The program includes a $5 gold coin, $1 silver coin, and half dollar clad coin with different obverse and reverse designs.

Characteristics

The silver obverse design features Yellowstone National Park's Old Faithful geyser and a bison.

The silver reverse design depicts a Latina Folklórico dancer and the National Park Service logo, representing the multi-faceted cultural experience found in America's national parks.
