The 2020 America the Beautiful Quarters Three-Coin Set™ – Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Historical Park is the fourth of five sets released in 2020 and the 54th overall in the America the Beautiful Quarters® Program. The site tells the story of conservation history and the evolving nature of land stewardship in America. It was the boyhood home of George Perkins Marsh, one of America's first conservationists. The property was subsequently owned by Frederick Billings, also a conservationist and pioneer in reforestation and scientific farm management, and Laurance S. and Mary French Rockefeller, who transferred the property to the American people.
The reverse (tails) design depicts a young girl completing the planting of a Norway spruce seedling near an established tree, continuing the life cycle of the forest. The child represents the conservationist, seeking to maintain a sustainable forest for future enjoyment and education. The inscription “LAND STEWARDSHIP” anchors the design. Additional inscriptions are “MARSH-BILLINGS-ROCKEFELLER,” “VERMONT,” “2020,” and “E PLURIBUS UNUM.”
Each three-coin set features an uncirculated quarter from the Philadelphia Mint, an uncirculated quarter from the Denver Mint, and a proof quarter from the San Francisco Mint. The coins are held in a durable plastic card with a picturesque image and brief description of the site and the coin, as well as a Certificate of Authenticity on the back of the card.
