The U.S. Mint kicked off 2026 by attending the 71st Florida United Numismatists (FUN) Show at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, held from Thursday, January 9, to Sunday, January 11. The Mint was thrilled to participate during such an important year—the Nation’s Semiquincentennial (SemiQ)!
Show attendees were able to view and purchase a cultivated selection of gold and silver coins, silver and bronze medals, and mystery boxes. The Mint also had a coin machine available. Attendees could exchange dollar bills for the newest circulating SemiQ quarter, the Mayflower Compact Quarter.
Deputy Director of the United States Mint Kristie McNally participated in the ribbon-cutting ceremony to officially open the show and welcome attendees. She also met with customers, collectors, and youth at the Mint booth during a meet-and-greet later that day.
On Friday, attendees enjoyed a meet-and-greet with Treasurer Brandon Beach and newly appointed Mint Director Paul Hollis, where they signed Certificates of Authenticity, took photos, and answered questions. Both Treasurer Beach and Director Hollis spent additional time walking the show floor and speaking with collectors of all ages. It was a great opportunity for many of our customers to meet the new Director and learn about his vision for the future of the Mint.
Mint staff participated in two youth-focused presentations on Saturday, January 10. The morning presentation was given to approximately 60 scouts working toward their Coin Collecting Merit Badge. The public affairs team discussed the new SemiQ coins and distributed coin boards for collecting the series. During the afternoon session, Mint staff spoke with approximately 40 young numismatists about the SemiQ coins.
There was something for everyone in Orlando—it truly was a FUN show for all!
