Final Proof Platinum Vistas of Liberty™ Design, Uncut Currency Sheets from the Bureau of Engraving &Printing and Medals of the United States Mint Now on Sale

Washington — The United States Mint today announced two new products available in the 2002 annual catalog — Uncut Currency Sheets from the Bureau of Engraving &Printing and Medals of the United States Mint.

The uncut sheets of 4 or 32 bills come straight from the United States Bureau of Engraving &Printing (BEP) and are the first BEP products offered by the United States Mint since 1986. Bronze replicas of Congressional medals commemorating significant historical people and events make their return to the annual catalog. Medals offered through the catalog include those honoring Charles M. Schulz, the Navajo Code Talkers, Ronald and Nancy Reagan, and Rosa Parks. Additional medals are offered through the United States Mint website at www.usmint.gov.

Concluding a series started in 1998, the United States Mint offers the final Vistas of Liberty™ series of the American Eagle Platinum Proof Coins, the last of five Platinum Proof Eagle reverse designs depicting the beauty of regional landscapes from across the nation. The 2002 reverse design brings the American bald eagle to the northwestern United States, bearing the image of a lake bordered by magnificent snowcapped mountains and trees — a landscape typical of the region. A swooping eagle and leaping trout fill the foreground of the majestic panorama. Each Platinum Proof Coin contains 99.9% pure platinum and is available in a one ounce, one–half ounce, one–quarter ounce, or one–tenth ounce size. A four–coin set is also available.

This year also marks the 10th anniversary of the current United States Mint Silver Proof Set™, offered since 1992. The 2002 United States Mint Silver Proof Set features proof versions of the Roosevelt dime, the Kennedy half dollar, and all five of the 2002 quarters in our 50 State Quarters Program in 90% silver. The set also includes proof versions of the Lincoln cent, the Jefferson nickel, and the Golden Dollar featuring Sacagawea. This impressive set is available for only $31.95.

Collectors will also be pleased to know that the 20 set order limit originally placed on the popular 50 State Quarters &Euro Coin Collection Set has been lifted.

Collectors who have yet to order their annual coin sets may purchase the 2002 10–Coin United States Mint Proof Set® ($19.95), the 2002 United States Mint 50 State Quarters Proof Set® ($13.95), and the 2002 United States Mint Uncirculated Mint Coin Set® ($14.95). Also available is the stunning United States Military Academy Bicentennial Commemorative Coin, the popular 50 State Quarters Coin &Die sets, Official First Day Coin Covers and Collector’s Map, and sought–after rolls of 2002 Golden Dollars.
