WASHINGTON — The United States Mint today announced that 2007–dated Golden Dollars featuring Sacagawea and Kennedy half–dollars will be available in bags and rolls at www.usmint.gov beginning on March 20, 2007, and March 30, 2007, respectively, at noon (ET).
Customers can purchase the Golden Dollar featuring Sacagawea in 25–coin rolls for $35.95 and in 250–coin bags for $319.95, a reduction from the 2006 price of $347. The bags and rolls bear either the mint mark of the United States Mint at Philadelphia (“P”) or the mint mark of the United States Mint at Denver (“D”).
American sculptor Glenna Goodacre designed the obverse of the Golden Dollar featuring Sacagawea, the young Shoshone woman who assisted Lewis and Clark on their exploration of the Louisiana Purchase more than 200 years ago. The reverse design of the coin, by former United States Mint Sculptor–Engraver Thomas D. Rogers, Sr., features a soaring bald eagle and 17 stars, one for each of the states at the time of the Lewis and Clark expedition.
The 2007–dated Kennedy half–dollars will be available in two–roll sets (20 coins per roll) for $32.95 — reduced from the 2006 price of $35.50 — including one mint mark coin roll each from the United States Mint at Philadelphia and the United States Mint at Denver. They are also available in bags of 200 that include an equal number of half–dollars with P and D mint marks, for $130.95, reduced from the 2006 price of $135.00.
The obverse design of the half–dollar features a portrait of President John F. Kennedy by Gilroy Roberts, the former Chief Engraver of the United States Mint. The reverse design, by Frank Gasparro, Roberts’s successor as Chief Engraver of the United States Mint, depicts the Presidential Coat of Arms.
Both the Golden Dollar featuring Sacagawea and the Kennedy half–dollar are circulating quality, struck on our main production floors at the United States Mint facilities at Philadelphia and Denver.
