United States Mint Offers Utah Quarter in Bags and Rolls

November 6, 2007

WASHINGTON — The United States Mint announced today that sales of the commemorative quarter–dollar honoring Utah opened on Monday, November 5, at noon (ET), and will be available for approximately 10 weeks. The Utah quarter–dollar is the 45th coin in the United States Mint’s 50 State Quarters Program.

The Utah quarter is offered in bags of 100 and 1,000 coins, and in two–roll sets (40 coins per roll) that include one roll each from the United States Mints at Philadelphia and Denver. The bags and two–roll sets feature quarters used in everyday circulation.

The design on the reverse of the Utah quarter commemorates the historic joining of the Central Pacific and Union Pacific railroads at Promontory Summit in May 1869. The coin features two locomotives moving toward the golden spike that joined the two railroads, linking East to West and transforming both the Utah Territory and the Nation. The inscriptions on the coin are “Crossroads of the West,” “Utah,” and “1896,” the year Utah was admitted into the Union.

Priced at $32.95, each coin roll in the two–roll set is wrapped in a specially designed United States Mint paper coin wrap that features the 50 State Quarters Program logo, a “P” or “D” denoting the roll’s mint of origin, “UT” designating the state of Utah, and “$10” representing its dollar value. Each bag of Utah quarters is marked with the mint of origin and the dollar value of its contents ($25 or $250). The bags of 100 coins are offered at $32.95, and the bags of 1,000 coins are offered at $309.95. There is no order limit on these products.

Customers can purchase the Utah quarters in bags and two–roll sets through the United States Mint’s secure Web site at www.usmint.gov, or by calling 1–800–USA–MINT (872–6468).
