WASHINGTON — The United States Mint will open sales for products in the 2013 5–Star Generals Commemorative Coin Program on March 21 at noon Eastern Time (ET). The bureau is minting and issuing the coins in recognition of United States Army 5–Star Generals Douglas MacArthur, George C. Marshall, Henry “Hap” Arnold, Dwight D. Eisenhower, and Omar N. Bradley–all alumni of, or instructors at, the United States Army Command and General Staff College (CGSC) in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas–to coincide with the celebration of the 132nd anniversary of the founding of the CGSC. Product options and pricing are as follows:

The bureau will also offer a 5–Star Generals Commemorative Coin Program special product. However, products comprising the set and the final mintage limit for the set have not yet been finalized.

Pricing for the $5 gold coins and three–coin proof set, which includes a proof $5 gold coin, will be determined by the United States Mint’s pricing policy for numismatic products containing precious metals. Public Law 111–262 authorizes the bureau to strike and issue up to 100,000 $5 gold coins, 500,000 silver dollars, and 750,000 clad half–dollars. Customer demand will determine the ratio of proof to uncirculated coins produced within the authorized mintage limits. Production of the three–coin proof set will be limited to 10,000 units.
Surcharges collected from coin sales — $35 for each gold coin, $10 for each silver dollar and $5 for each clad half–dollar — are authorized to be paid to the CGSC Foundation to help finance its activities in support of the college. The United States Mint will accept orders at its online catalog, http://www.usmint.gov/catalog, and at 1–800–USA–MINT (872–6468). Hearing– and speech–impaired customers may order by calling 1–888–321–MINT (6468). All domestic orders will be assessed a shipping and handling fee of $4.95 per order. There are no household order limits for any of the product options.
