WASHINGTON — On June 10 at noon Eastern Time (ET), the United States Mint will release collectible bags and rolls containing quarters honoring the Great Basin National Park in Nevada. The quarter’s reverse (tails side) design captures the beauty and unique qualities of a single Bristlecone Pine tree and the rocky glacial moraines where the trees grow. It is the 18th coin released in the United States Mint’s America the Beautiful Quarters® Program, a multi–year initiative to celebrate our national parks and other national sites.
Coins in the rolls and bags were struck on the main production floors of the United States Mint’s facilities at Denver, Philadelphia, and San Francisco, while the three–roll set contains coins from all three facilities. Unlike quarters bearing the “P” and “D” mint marks, those with the “S” mint mark will not be released into circulation or included in annual sets. The special numismatic wrapping for the coin rolls displays the name “Great Basin National Park;” the abbreviation “NV” for Nevada; “$10,” the face value of their contents; and “P,” “D.” or “S” for the mint of origin. The canvas bags have a tag with “Great Basin National Park,” “NV” and “P,” “D.” or “S.”
