United States Mint Opens Sales for Mark Twain Commemorative Silver Coins on Feb. 1

WASHINGTON - The United States Mint will open sales for Mark Twain Commemorative Silver Dollars starting Feb 1, 2016, at noon Eastern Time (ET).

Public Law 112-201 authorizes the bureau to mint and issue up to 350,000 $1 silver dollars in proof and uncirculated qualities.  Customer demand will determine the ratio of proof to uncirculated coins minted within the authorized mintage limits.  Available product options and their prices are as follows:

*The introductory sales period ends March 2, 2016, at 3 p.m. ET, when regular pricing takes effect.

Sales prices include surcharges of $10 for each silver dollar which are authorized to be paid to the Mark Twain House and Museum in Hartford, Conn.; the University of California, Berkeley; Elmira College in New York; and the Mark Twain Boyhood Home and Museum in Hannibal, Mo.

Note:  To ensure that all members of the public have fair and equal access to United States Mint products, orders placed prior to the official on-sale date and time of Feb. 1, 2016, at noon ET, shall not be deemed accepted by the United States Mint and will not be honored.
