To commemorate the semiquincentennial of our Nation’s founding, this special one-year issue of the 250th Anniversary Gold Proof Coin bears the dates “1776 ~ 2026” and a mint mark. Each coin contains one ounce of .9999 fine, 24-karat gold.
The obverse (heads) design features a portrait of President Donald J. Trump with the inscriptions “LIBERTY,” “IN GOD WE TRUST,” and “1776 ~ 2026.”
The reverse (tails) design features the Presidential Seal, which shows an eagle holding an olive branch and a bundle of arrows, with a shield on its breast and a banner inscribed “E PLURIBUS UNUM” in its beak. The shield contains the additional inscription “250” to honor the Semiquincentennial of the United States. The additional inscriptions are “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” and “250 DOLLARS.”
To celebrate the Nation's Semiquincentennial, the United States Mint unveiled one-year-only changes to well-known American coinage, such as the circulating dime, quarter, half dollar, and dollar. The Mint will also release special numismatic coins and medals in 2026 featuring unique designs and enhancements for core products and annual releases.

250,000 President Donald J. Trump $1 Coins were struck on July 4 with a special “July 4th” privy mark. These coins were randomly included in the bags and rolls that were available for purchase from the Mint’s online catalog.
