The Daniel Boone Bicentennial Half Dollar was first struck in 1934 to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the birth of Daniel Boone.
The coins were reissued from 1935-1938 with the date "1934" being added to the reverse above "Pioneer Year" in accordance with Public Law 74-342.
The legislation stated: "Such coins may be disposed of at par or at a premium by said Commission and all proceeds shall be used in furtherance of the Daniel Boone Bicentennial Commission projects."
The obverse design features a portrait of Daniel Boone.
The reverse features frontiersman holding a chart of Kentucky and a rifle facing an American Indian holding a tomahawk. In the background includes a blockhouse stockade and a sun half on the horizon.
