Merrill's Marauders Bronze Medal
During World War II, Merrill’s Marauders volunteered to go behind enemy lines and march through dense jungles, mountains, rivers, and monsoon rains in Burma (Myanmar). Despite the conditions, these infantry men, led by Brigadier General Frank D. Merrill, defeated larger and better-equipped enemy forces in five major battles and thirty minor engagements. For their bravery and outstanding service to their nation, Merrill’s Marauders were awarded a Congressional Gold Medal.
Commemorate the courage and achievements of Merrill’s Marauders with a bronze replica of their Congressional Gold Medal, expertly crafted by the United States Mint in Philadelphia.
These bronze medals are a great addition to any collection. Honor your military veteran or a family member today with these keepsakes. Though the Marauders were operational for only a few months, the legacy of their bravery is honored by the Army through the modern-day 75th Ranger Regiment, which traces its lineage directly to the 5307th Composite Unit. For their bravery and accomplishments, the Marauders were awarded the “Distinguished Unit Citation,” later re-designated as the “Presidential Unit Citation,” and a Bronze Star.
