August 20, 2009

WASHINGTON — The United States Mint announced today that its 2009 Fall Gift Catalog will be mailed to customers beginning on August 27, 2009. This year’s catalog offers an assortment of products, including the 2009 Ultra High Relief Double Eagle Gold Coin, First Spouse Gold Coins, the 2009 Louis Braille Bicentennial Silver Dollar and 2009 Lincoln Bicentennial One–Cent Two–Roll Set — “Professional Life.”

“We are proud, as always, to offer the public a wide array of products that resonate with our Nation’s rich history,” said United States Mint Director Ed Moy.

The United States Mint 2009 Fall Gift Catalog prominently features the 2009 Ultra High Relief Double Eagle Gold Coin. A marvel of 21st century digital coin design, the .9999 fine 24–karat gold coin is accompanied by a companion book that chronicles its history and development and a Certificate of Authenticity (COA) signed by Director Moy. The book is not sold separately.

First Spouse Gold Coins included in the United States Mint 2009 Fall Gift Catalog feature the portraits of Anna Harrison, Letitia Tyler and Julia Tyler. The 24–karat gold coins, available in both proof and uncirculated conditions, are presented in a mahogany box and accompanied by a COA. Bronze medals bearing the same portraits featured on the gold coins are also available for $3.50 each.

Pricing for the 2009 Ultra High Relief Double Eagle Gold Coin and the First Spouse Gold Coins is based on the United States Mint’s pricing structure for precious metals products. For the most current pricing information, visit http://www.usmint.gov/pressroom/index.cfm?flash=yes&action=goldplat.

Coins marking the 200th anniversaries of the births of Louis Braille, inventor of the Braille system used by the blind to read and write, and President Abraham Lincoln are also included in the United States Mint 2009 Fall Gift Catalog. The 2009 Louis Braille Bicentennial Silver Dollar is available in proof and uncirculated versions. The uncirculated version is also available in an easy–open capsule for those who wish to experience the coin’s tactile features, which include legible Braille.

A two–roll set containing the third coin released in the 2009 Lincoln Bicentennial One–Cent Program, representing Lincoln’s professional life in Illinois, is also available. Each set includes one roll each of 50 coins from the United States Mints at Philadelphia and Denver. All four 2009 Lincoln Bicentennial One–Cent Coins, in 95 percent copper versions, are also available in the annual proof and silver proof sets.
