United States Mint Releases Annual Special Occasion Coin Sets January 14

WASHINGTON — The United States Mint will begin accepting orders for special occasion coin sets starting January 14, at noon Eastern Time (ET) at http://www.usmint.gov/catalog and at 1–800–USA–MINT (872–6468). The special occasion coin sets include the 2014 Birth Set, the 2014 United States Mint Happy Birthday Coin Set, and the United States Mint Congratulations Set.

2014 Birth Set (product code UB7)
This set, priced at $19.95, is a precious memento to mark the arrival of a newborn baby in 2014. The set contains the following proof quality coins:

  • One Kennedy half–dollar
  • The first 2014 America the Beautiful Quarters® Coin honoring Great Smoky Mountains National Park (Tennessee)
  • One Roosevelt dime
  • One Jefferson 5– cent coin (nickel)
  • One Lincoln one–cent coin (penny)

All coins bear the “S” mint mark of the United States Mint at San Francisco. The coins are mounted on an attractive folder, including spaces for a welcome message and the day/time of the birth and length/weight of the baby, a baby photograph, and a lock of the baby’s hair. The photograph frame holds a 3″ x 4″ photograph. Photograph is not included.

2014 United States Mint Happy Birthday Coin Set (product code HB1)
This set, also priced at $19.95, includes the following proof quality coins with the “S” mint mark:

  • One Kennedy half–dollar
  • The last 2014 America the Beautiful Quarters® Coin honoring Everglades National Park (Florida)
  • One Roosevelt dime
  • One Jefferson nickel
  • One Lincoln penny

The coins are encapsulated in a festively decorated folder that allows the obverse (heads) and the reverse (tails) of each coin to be seen. The front of the outer sleeve and the front of the folder bear the United States Mint logo with the words “Happy Birthday!” and “2014 United States Mint Happy Birthday Coin Set.” The packaging design includes images of gift boxes and balloons and space for a personalized message to the recipient.

United States Mint Congratulations Set (product code CS1)
This set is ideal for a variety of congratulatory events, including graduations, weddings, anniversaries, retirements, and milestone birthdays and more. The set contains one 2014 American Eagle One Ounce Silver Proof Coin, which is encapsulated and mounted in an attractive folder that allows the coin’s obverse and reverse to be seen. The front of the folder and the front of the outer sleeve bear the United States Mint logo with the words “Congratulations!,” “2014 United States Mint Congratulations Set,” and “American Eagle One Ounce Silver Proof Coin. ” The packaging design includes images of silver and gold ribbons and space for a personalized message to the recipient. The United States Mint Congratulations Set is currently priced at $54.95. Because of the variability of pricing on the precious metal markets, prices of products containing silver are subject to change.

The Certificate of Authenticity for each set is printed on the back of the folder. Coin specifications are printed on the back of each sleeve.
