The 2020 America the Beautiful Quarters Three-Coin Set™ – Weir Farm National Historic Site is the second of five sites to be honored in 2020 and the 52nd overall in the America the Beautiful Quarters® Program. Weir Farm National Historic Site in Connecticut includes a 60-acre cultural landscape consisting of 15 historic structures, including houses, barns, studios, and outbuildings. The artistic tradition at Weir Farm is kept alive through a variety of “Art in the Park” programs, including an artist-in-residence program, free art supplies, night painting, and art lessons.
This reverse (tails) design depicts an artist wearing a painter’s smock painting outside Julian Alden Weir’s studio at Weir Farm. The design was inspired by various images of the studio and Weir’s paintings created on the property, as well as Weir’s and his fellow artists’ descriptions of their creative inspiration from the rural environment. The description “A NATIONAL PARK FOR ART” appears in the lower right. Inscriptions are “WEIR FARM,” “CONNECTICUT,” “2020,” and “E PLURIBUS UNUM.”
Each three-coin set features an uncirculated quarter from the Philadelphia Mint, an uncirculated quarter from the Denver Mint, and a proof quarter from the San Francisco Mint. The coins are held in a durable plastic card that features a picturesque image and a brief description of the site and the coin, as well as a Certificate of Authenticity on the back of the card.
