Chief Gary Harris currently serves as the Field Chief of the United States Mint Police at West Point New York. He began his career with the U.S. Mint Police in 2003 and has formerly served as a Police Officer, Sergeant, Lieutenant, and Inspector at the West Point New York location.

Prior to his career with the Department of Treasury, Chief Harris spent time as a police officer with the Department of Veterans Affairs and prior to that spent five years on active duty in the U.S. Army as a Military Policeman. In 2011, Chief Harris was given a direct commission into the U.S. Army Reserves where he served in various leadership roles that included Platoon Leader, Company Executive Officer, Company Commander, and Battalion Operations Officer.

Chief Harris holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Marist College, a Master’s of Science in Criminal Justice from Boston University, and a Bachelor’s of Science in Criminal Justice from St. Thomas Aquinas College. In 2020, Chief Harris graduated from the 279th session of the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s National Academy.
