Ventris C. GibsonThe U.S. Mint is proud to share that the Honorable Ventris C. Gibson is the 2024 recipient of the Black Business Association (BBA) President’s Award. Gibson – the Mint’s 40th director – is the first African American appointed to the position since 1792. She is attracting a new community of coin collectors due to her visionary leadership, strategic insight, and personal charisma.

Director Gibson will accept the award at the BBA’s 21st annual Salute to Black Women Business Conference, Vendor Faire & Awards Luncheon held on March 23 in Los Angeles. She will have the opportunity to speak to attendees about coin programs, such as the American Women Quarters™ Program and the Harriet Tubman Commemorative Coin Program that support the event’s theme: “Celebrating Women Who Advocate for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.”

Check back at the end of March (Women’s History Month) for a summary and photos from the event.
