Tours to Resume at Denver Mint

June 21, 2002

“I am pleased to invite students and citizens back to the Denver Mint to learn about this historic facility and American coinage,” said United States Mint Director Henrietta Holsman Fore. “I would like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding as we take steps to ensure the safety our visitors and our employees, and the security of the facility.”

Tours of students — kindergarten through 12th grade – may be arranged through the Office of Exhibits and Public Services at the Denver Mint at (303) 405–4755, by appointment only. Two weeks’ advance notice is required for scheduling and security purposes.

Tours for groups of six or fewer citizens at a time may be arranged through Congressional sponsorship. Congressional staff should contact the United States Mint Legislative Affairs Office at (202) 354–6700 to arrange tours for their constituents.

The Mint expects to announce the resumption of tours at its Philadelphia facility, which is currently under construction and where tours also have been suspended since September 11, in late August, according to the same rules.
