WASHINGTON – Each year on November 11, the Nation pays tribute to the men and women who served in the United States Armed Forces. This year, you can show a veteran or current military servicemember your appreciation with a collectible coin from the United States Mint's 2011 Medal of Honor Commemorative Coin Program or the United States Army Commemorative Coin Program.
2011 United States Army Commemorative Coin Program The coins in this program – authorized by Public Law 110–450, the United States Army Commemorative Coin Act of 2008 – recognize and celebrate the founding of the United States Army in 1775. Struck in gold, silver and clad, the coins are available in proof and uncirculated qualities. Pricing is as follows:

The maximum mintage for these coins has been set at 100,000 $5 gold coins, 500,000 silver $1 coins and 750,000 half–dollar clad coins. Surcharges from the sale of each coin – $35 for each $5 gold coin, $10 for each $1 silver coin and $5 for each half–dollar clad coin – are authorized to be paid to the Army Historical Foundation to support the construction of the National Museum of the United States Army at Fort Belvoir, Va.
2011 Medal of Honor Commemorative Coin Program The coins in this program – authorized by Public Law 111–91, the Medal of Honor Commemorative Coin Act of 2009 – recognize and celebrate the establishment of the Medal of Honor in 1861. The program also honors the American servicemembers who have been recipients of the Medal of Honor and promotes awareness of how ordinary Americans can challenge fate and change the course of history. Available options include gold and silver coins in proof and uncirculated qualities. Pricing is as follows:

Surcharges from the sale of each coin – $35 for each $5 gold coin and $10 for each $1 silver dollar – are authorized to be paid to the Congressional Medal of Honor Foundation to help finance its educational, scholarship and outreach programs.
