5-Star Generals Commemorative Half Dollar Clad Coin
In 2013, the U.S. Mint honored five United States Army 5-star generals by minting three commemorative coins in the 5-Star Generals Commemorative Coin Program.
Recipient Organization: CGSC FoundationSurcharges in the amount of $35 for each gold coin, $10 for each silver coin and $5 for each clad coin sold are authorized to be paid to the CGSC Foundation to help finance its activities in support of the college.
Commemorative Coin Surcharges
Commemorative coin programs are created by acts of Congress to honor a person, place, or event. Surcharges from the sales of these coins help fund a variety of organizations and projects that benefit the public. Commemorative coins are only available from the United States Mint for a limited time, as specified by public law.
Obverse: Features portraits of Generals Henry "Hap" Arnold and Omar N. Bradley with the 5-star insignia above their heads.
Reverse: Features the heraldic crest of Fort Leavenworth.
